Honestly us women pay a ton of hard-earned cash for products that we are told will help us look good. How much exactly?
A LOT…….we’ve seen some pretty crazy expensive products in our travel and honestly, we wonder who could afford them!
But beauty products don’t need to be expensive to tell you the truth. In fact, some of the most amazing, all-natural beauty products are dirt cheap. You honestly don’t have to spend a ton of cash, you just need to know what will work for you. We are here to help.
Here’s 12 ways to look great for less:
moisturizer via your kitchen. I always try to buy all-natural beauty products because I’ve found that the ones loaded with chemical just don’t do the trick. I can tell you the best all-natural products you can you get are fresh produce!
Try mashing up a banana and then use it as a facial mask. Just leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes and rinse with warm water. You can also mix two-parts mashed avocado with one-part water, (and one drop of rosemary essential oil if you have it) and use it as a deep-conditioning hair treatment.
Of course you can always use coconut oil in place of your regular skin moisturizer, as a scalp treatment, toothpaste or even around your hairline while you dye your hair.
Just look for organic coconut oil because you’ll yield the more healthy results.
Use every bit of makeup. Is your mascara almost gone and you are trying to get the very last drop out? Try running the closed tube under some really warm water before applying it and you should be able to get a few more applications out of it.
If you realize that you are down to the end of a tube of lipstick, just use a lip brush to get out every last little bit out. I personally have started to use a lip brush because I have found I use less lipstick and it goes on looking better.
Shampoo less. If you wash your hair every day, you’re probably washing it too much I hate to tell you. If you are over washing you are using too much shampoo and you are more than likely having to use conditioner and scalp treatments. Washing less helps maintain your hair’s natural oils which if you are a curly-haired beauty it will help to eliminate frizz.
Give your hair a vinegar rinse. Vinegar is amazing and cheap. You can use a $3 jug and clean your whole hour for a month with it. Besides being a great natural cleaner, vinegar can also help restore shine to your hair and remove product build up. Just pour about a half cup over your hair, let it sit a few minutes and then rinse with cool water.
Do your own nails. Before you apply any nail color, make sure your nails are clean and dry. If you don’t oil on your nails will prevent the polish from adhering and you’ll have peeling polish in 24 hours (or less).
When applying your top coat, make sure you get the top edge, not just the front of the nail. This way you have protected the whole nail and not just the top.
Always wear sun protection. If you don’t want to be spending tons on anti aging creams in the future, stay out of the sun. Consider a daily moisturizer that contains sunscreen. There are several affordable options available at the drug store or stores like Target.
Curl your lashes. The secret to great lashes honestly isn’t a special, pricey mascara – it’s an inexpensive lash curler. I got one for $3 at Ulta and honestly it can make a $5 tube of mascara work just like those $25 tubes. Use a lash curler before and after applying mascara to increase the drama and definition of your lashes.
Make your own exfoliant. Don’t think that you need a degree in Science to make your own products. You can create a simple exfoliating sugar scrub by mixing a half cup of raw sugar with ¼ cup of oil. Want it to be scented? Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. We love lavender because it also will soothe the skin.
Take care of your brushes. This means make up and hair brushes. Wash them regularly and allow them to air dry. You’ll keep them from growing nasty bacteria that will cost you big time in a visit to the derm and of course healing products.
Stock up on products when they are on sale. If you have a favorite product, but two when they are on sale. You’ll thank yourself in the end! MOST THINGS go on sale every 6-8 week. In the case of high-end beauty products they go on sale every 60-90 days.
Drink water and green tea. Soda is expensive and it really messes with your skin. Make the change and you’ll feel healthier and you’ll see your skin is brighter that is clearer. I was able to stop buying my $40 a month acne cream when I made the change.
Use Epsom salts. You can get a really big bag for $2 to $3 which is a frugal beauty trick I love. Most people are lacking magnesium which is vital to our bodies. Soak once or twice a week in a tub with epsom salts and if you can’t do the tub soak your feet in it. You skin will absorb it and you’ll reap the benefits.
Go now beauties! While samples are in stock, you can get a free sample hair care kit with shampoo, conditioner and hair treatment samples from Garnier Fructis’ Brazilian Smooth hair care line. This is a new-ish line of products and we are hearing good things!
